ISSUES WITH IMMIGRATION
The immigration problem at the border remains a serious issue for this country.
Some of the main issues that the immigration problem poses are:
Financial:
Although this country nobly welcomes immigrants and refugees, it should do so responsibly. This is not unlike how individual people should welcome visitors and needy people into their home. However, without doing some sort of reasonable background checking, doing so would be reckless and irresponsible. It could expose the individual to personal harm and financial loss. This is not too dissimilar to how immigration issues should be handled. We need to be able to afford to accommodate these immigrants and should have a budget and a plan that makes at least some level of fiscal sense. The country is currently dealing with serious inflation and may be heading for a recession. Taking on more expenses without certain checks and balances seems highly risky.
Safety:
Many immigrants coming into the country have criminal records in their county of origin and have not been sufficiently screened before entering the country. The Border Patrol are overwhelmed and frustrated with the situation at the border, and don’t have sufficient resources to properly handle. There is also a large amount of illegal drugs being brought into this country which is further increasing the current opium crisis. The current setup at the southern border could use some PUSHBAC.
