PUSHBAC AGAINST DISNEY
Disney is probably the most famous brand in the family entertainment industry. Shockingly, Disney recently took the position of opposing the “Parental Rights in Education” bill of Florida. This is the bill that activist opponents have incorrectly called the “Don’t Say Gay” bill. The bill is well founded and logical and prohibits in-classroom instruction on sexual orientation issues or gender identity for young children between 5 and 9 years old.
The bill is designed to protect the proper growth development of these small children, clearly a noble endeavor. Disney’s lack of support, and even worse, its opposition seems egregious. An entertainment company who produces entertainment content should not be involving itself in political matters – particularly when it relates to trying to protect children’s well being. Additionally, there has not been enough experience on this subject with regard to measuring the affect on children psychologically and otherwise.
Should you show support a company which is openly opposed to a bill constructed with the goal of trying to protect children. Seems obvious that this needs a lot of PUSHBAC.
