CRITICAL RACE THEORY IN SCHOOL

Critical Race Theory is a theory that believes that white people are generally racist and capitalize off the current racist system. It has been introduced into school curriculums around the country and has caused significant controversy.

Although racism does indeed exist and is unfair and should be opposed, Critical Race Theory has many inaccuracies, causes divisiveness, and is not an effective means of confronting racism. Critical Race Theory could use some PUSHBAC.

Points You Might Want to Mention:

Teaching Critical Race Theory leaves the youth with a negative impression of the country’s history, which although has blemishes has many positive aspects that CRT seems to overshadow.
Critical race theory seems to be a sweeping generalization. Generalizations are usually biased conclusions by those who attempt to perpetuate whatever concept or theory they take issue with.
CRT seems to cause more damage than benefit. Why not teach courses about factual, historical racism with the goal of raising awareness of racism, while constructively suggesting methods to improve the racism that exists.
Critical Race Theory itself seems racist. It seems to have strong anti-white sentiments that make white people defensive. People who are defensive tend to push back against being accused or attacked. Proposing that people read factual articles or studies from recognized historians would be more effective than reading the writings of people who have an anti-white slant.
Critical Race Theory is divisive – People who feel they are in a confrontation or feel they’ve been falsely accused are not strong candidates to change their behavior.
